Job Description

We are looking for a Head Chef who will take responsibility for effectively managing the catering contract within budgetary constraints, whilst maximising profitable sales by the introduction and maintenance of food service brands.The role attracts a salary of £55,000 per annum plus £5,000 performace related bonusResponsibilities will include:

  • Deliver a consistent level of service in line with KPIs and contract specification
  • Ensure all costs and expenditure are within the budgeted levels by effectively managing all costs such as labour, expenses, cash purchases as agreed with your line manager
  • Effectively manage the preparation and completion of menu planning, costing, ordering & accurate stock control.
  • Carry out on the job training in such areas as Food Safety, Health & Safety, Unit evacuation policy, dangerous equipment and basic food hygiene.
  • Ensure Food Cost percentage targets are met.
  • Initiate a process of continuous improvement by undertaking company promotions & extraordinary merchandising initiatives to ensure the profitable growth of the contract.
  • Introduce new food concepts and drive food trends within breakfast, shop, deli and hospitality
  • Talk and engage with customers and clients to gain insights and gather feedback which will drive improvements.
  • Continuously develop and improve food quality and hygiene standards across all areas
  • Preparation and service of all restaurant & hospitality requirements
  • Ensure that adequate products, equipment, and materials are properly stored.
  • Have knowledge of changes in legislation
  • Assist with staff recruitment, staff training, development & motivation of staff
  • Assist with disciplinary and grievance issues consistently, fairly and in line with company policy
Experience and Qualifications required:
  • 706/1/2 or equivalent
  • HND Membership of HCIMA desirable
  • Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Practical experience in a quality establishment
  • Management experience within catering environment gained in contract catering
  • Must be a qualified chef with flair and imagination.
  • Full craft background.
  • Must have a full understanding of cost control.
  • Computer literate.
  • Fully fluent in spoken & written English.
