Job Description

Assistant Accountant/Junior Finance Manager - SUPERB ROLEMcGinnis Loy Associates is proud to be working with a UK-based Event & Brands Agency who are looking for an Assistant Accountant/Junior Finance Manager to join their growing Finance team in Leatherhead. With both UK & US operations, you will be reportingto the Senior Finance Manager and be responsible for managing urgent supplier payments, payment runs and completing month end duties. The role would ideally suit an AAT/ACCA/CIMA Part-Qualified or someone Qualified By Experience, and key duties include:

  • Managing approved supplier invoices (project related & company admin) for both the UK and US entities, entering them into Sage
  • Responsible for daily management of all purchase ledger queries
  • Preparation of Supplier payment schedules and managing supplier reconciliation activities
  • Staff expenses - maintaining & reconciling staff expense reports for both the UK & US entities (inc. cash receipts and payments)
  • Managing & reconciling employee out of pocket/cash expenses’ reports for both the UK and US entities
  • Preparing & posting accruals and prepayments
  • Managing Bank reconciliations and Petty cash reconciliations
  • Preparing balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany and internal costs analysis
  • Preparing and sending annual P60’s (UK) and 1099’s (US) to employees/staff
  • Maintaining the Fixed Asset Register and posting the depreciation journals
The Purchase Ledger element of the role makes up 50-65% of the monthly routine, mostly due to the number of invoices from new vendors, the need for many invoices to be paid on a one-off basis and the approval process & entering of invoices is manual. Thecompany is therefore seeking someone who can be firm’ with approval processes and appreciate the pressure-points Project Managers are under, guiding them in a constructive manner. To be considered for the role, you should be either AAT/ACCA/CIMA Part-Qualifiedor Qualified By Experience, with at least three years relevant experience in the above skills, and study-support is available for those carrying on with their professional qualifications. Experience in Sage would be useful, and they are looking to change systemsin the future, so you will be involved in the systems implementation when that happens. You will also be responsible for managing a Finance Administrator on a day-to-day basis as they help with Purchase Ledger duties.On offer is a salary up to £33,000 depending on experience and qualification + study support (if applicable) and excellent benefits including flexible working, holidays, corporate pension scheme and healthcare.
