Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an innovative engineering Company and use your skills and extensive knowledge within a supportive, engaging environment.The successful applicant will perform mechanical design activities within the Design Engineering function to support multiple work packages across the Engineering team, supporting in delivering the Bladon MTG.Key Responsibilities;

Develop concept and production design of components and assemblies from system level requirements

Create CAD models, assemblies, drawings and specifications according to best practice and corporate standards

Perform tolerance studies as required on bespoke designs

Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering and Supply Chain personnel to optimise design for production

Ensure the corporate standard for CAD modelling and draughting is followed by adherence, and by giving guidance to others

Check engineering drawings for compliance to BS 8888, GD&T and best practices

Improve the drawing office practices, standards and technology

Support DFMEA and DVP development

Support the continuous improvement of the Design Engineering function

HND or higher qualification

Experience of designing mechanical parts for high-volume manufacture

Broad Engineering Design knowledge; e.g. Sheet metal work, tooling & jigs, machining, piping & pipe fittings, electrical harnesses

A thorough understanding of BS 8888 and GD&T

Excellent CAD skills are mandatory; Solidworks (2017 or newer) preferred

Excellent IT skills, including Excel, PDM/PLM systems (Teamcenter 12)

Must have a meticulous, disciplined approach and work to a high level of accuracy

Capable of working in a highly dynamic environment with changing priorities
