Job Description

Capita Networking Solutions is looking for a Senior Network Engineer - Based in Tannochside / Flexible Working Reporting to the Technical Director, the Senior Network Engineer has managerial responsible for the TSG engineering team. They are also the central escalation point for all technical aspects of the work performed by the TSG team. Senior engineers are required to collaborate with business stake-holders and customer representatives to understand and translate business requirements, into appropriate technical solutions to meet both business and commercial needs. This role requires a level of customer facing ability and extensive hands-on engineering skills in collapsed IP/MPLS networks.Key Attributes

  • Function as line manager for the TSG team
  • Technical review of all CRQs written by the TSG team
  • Provide input to technical designs provided by other CNS technology groups - a level of "cross-functional" technical knowledge is highly desirable
  • Provide direct, credible and authoritative interaction with CNS colleagues and customers alike
  • Actively contribute to continual service delivery improvement
  • Responsible for all escalations relating to work completed by TSG team, both from inside and outside the team
  • Ensuring that all pre-appointment configurations are written on time
  • Produce templates for both base management and individual customer specific configurations for all router types used
  • Be responsible for the more technically challenging transition/migration/CRQs to ensure completion
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert for other members of the SWAN technical teams
  • Provide direct, credible and authoritative interaction with CNS colleagues and customers alike
    • Essential Experience/Skills
  • Routing & Switching (Cisco or Juniper)
  • Firewall Solutions (Cisco, Palo Alto, or Fortinet) - Network Security
  • Load Balancing (F5) and DNS
  • Experience with PPP, CHAP and Radius Authentication
    • QualificationsCandidates will be expected to have demonstrable senior experience, and will likely be working towards achieving a CCNP/CCIE or similar accreditation, and may possess a combination of the following:
  • Cisco CCNP/CCDP (Routing & Switching and/or Service Provider)
  • Cisco CCIE or JNCIP/JNCIE
    • Desired Experience/Skills
  • Candidates with specialisms in network security, wireless or with experience in the design of large-scale WAN/ISP environments (e.g. Service Provider) are of particular interest
  • In depth knowledge of the OSI networking model and TCP/IP protocols
  • Experience of LAN switching and WAN technologies,
