Our client, a major automotive company, require a Hazardous Materials Coordinator for this long term contract position based at their research and development offices at Dunton, Basildon, Essex. Own transport will be necessary to access the site, there is parking.The function of this role is to work within a small team to support in the delivery of a Toxicology and Industrial Hygiene Service to agreed customer objectives and to the required Company standards and policies and compliance with regional and local legislation and regulations.TOXICOLOGY: Hazardous material review management; responsible for conducting reviews on non-dimensional European non-production (incl. Russia, Turkey). Routine toxicology review of incoming chemical materials including liaison with suppliers to help ensure adequate data disclosure. Reviews based on confidential chemical disclosures and audit of supplier material safety data sheets.Chemical control systems coordination including liaison with the global Company toxicology offices/ materials engineering, EQO, FCSD, Hazmat, EU EMM, GMM. Provision of training courses on corporate hazardous material approval systems. GMA helpdesk queries; Chemical list management (e.g. REACH Annexes) ¿ Chemical Information searches. Toxicology & Hygiene website support and updating; Keeping up-to date- with REACH and other current legislation, (e.g. CLP (GHS)) to be able to provide advice to their Suppliers. National chemical control legislation; National OH&S aligned technical working groups; Contractor safety.INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE; Logging & coordination of Hygiene requests, reports and surveys for the Company. Maintaining databases and assisting with Plant Audits. Assisting with Company Claims cases, tracking information and reports to defend the Company against legal claims, applying to both Toxicology and Hygiene departments.Skills Required:Familiarity with MS Office, Basic maths skillsGENERAL; Record keeping; Toxicology, Occupational Hygiene and the Occupational Health department handle data that is strictly confidential on a daily basis, requiring careful management and storage of documentation and a general duty of care.
