Job Description

Qualified Financial AccountantAre you a natural with numbers and have an eye for accuracy Do you enjoy the world of finance, from monthly forecasting, to month end reporting Do you want to build on your accounting experience within a friendly plc business turning over £84 millionIf this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you.Hours: 37.5 hours per week – 0830 - 1700 Monday to FridayLocation: Kirkby in Ashfield, NottinghamshireAbout the roleWe are looking for a newly qualified Financial Accountant to join the Van Elle Finance team. You will be based at our Head office in Kirkby in Ashfield. This will be a varied position, working closely with the Head of Financial Reporting and Financial Controller. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of the Van Elle team and make a key contribution to helping the Group achieve its strategic objectives.Duties & Responsibilities:You’ll play a pivotal role covering all aspects of financial reporting and with a rigorous focus on cost control, including:

  • Preparation of the monthly consolidated results including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliation
  • Preparation of the monthly finance pack
  • Conducting monthly cost reviews with the Groups operating divisions and central functions
  • Assisting with cash reporting and forecasting
  • Preparation of the annual financial statements and interim results under IFRS
  • Management of several technical accounting areas including expected loss provisioning, investment properties and intangible assets
  • Working with the finance team and audit team to deliver the year end audit and interim review
  • Responsibility for the annual corporation tax computations for the group
  • Supporting the Head of Financial Reporting with the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting process
  • Preparation and reporting of the business KPI’s
  • Preparation of capex appraisals to support investment decision making
  • Streamline finance processes to improve efficiency
  • Support on ad-hoc projects as required
    • Key Skills and Experience:
  • A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • A willingness to learn and develop new skills
  • Experience of financial accounting and IFRS
  • Good working knowledge of IT, competent with Microsoft Office packages
  • Be able to understand and interpret data
  • Flexible approach to work, self-motivated working well in a team as well as independently
  • Effective planning and organisation skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Methodical and collaborative approach to problem solving
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player with a ‘can do’ approach, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills
