Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Service Manager in Kingston Surrey are you looking for a temporary roleThe service manager will have strategic responsibility for coordinating and managing the Independent Domestic Violence Advocacy (IDVA), early intervention and refuge services across Kingston.The post holder will be the strategic lead in developing multi-agency arrangements in Kingston working with both statutory and voluntary agencies.The post holder will operate within both a local and national context and will be working closely with the national senior operations manager.The post holder will provide line management and support to staff. This will include providing supervision on complex casework issues such as child protection, adult safeguarding and overseeing operational emergencies and ensuring high standards of casework.The post holder will also be responsible for ensuring that contractual and other funding requirements are met fully and that Refuges high-quality standards are maintained.The job involves working closely with staff that support survivors of domestic violence and their children in crisis using our services.The post holder will be responsible for co-coordinating a weekly one-stop-shop service and for the delivery of group work sessions some of which take place in the evening.As a member of the management team, the post holder will be required to participate with other managers in an out-of-hours management service. Managing people

  1. To manage and develop staff in accordance with Refuges performance management scheme, ensuring their involvement in the continuous improvement of services.
  2. To support staff through monthly supervision meetings, ensuring that probationary reviews are carried out.
  3. To ensure all staff complete Refuges specialist training program.
  4. To engage the whole team in regular service review to promote best practice and continuous improvement of service. To implement and manage the sharing of knowledge and good practice towards improving service delivery.
  5. To select, recruit and retain staff in line with refuges policies and procedures.
Experience
  • Practical experience of working in a womans refuge/residential/health and/or community setting.
  • Extensive experience of sensitively assessing and responding to the needs and risks of women and children experiencing gender based violence.
  • Significant experience of providing direct emotional and practical support to people seeking support/advice e.social services, residential work or the voluntary sector experiance of managing refuge and/or supported accommodation and/or service provision.
  • Experience of managing the security and well-being of survivors of domestic violence
  • Experience of managing refuge and/or supported accommodation and/or service provision.
  • Experience of managing the security and well-being of survivors of domestic violence.
  • Experience of managing complex casework, including issues such as child abuse, mental health, substance abuse, working with trauma in adults and children and crisis intervention.
  • Proven experience of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
  • Proven experience of advocating for clients.
  • Experience of preparing effective reports for case conferences or similar proceedings in which women and children may be involved.
  • Experience of managing and developing teams and individuals
  • Experience of managing budgets effectively.
  • Experience of managing change.
To register with Tradewind you will need a minimum of 2 years experience working within Health and Social Care and be able to supply up to 5 years referencing.
