Health and Safety Support OfficerLocation: Based at Penryn Road CampusSalary: £25,000 per annumContract: Full Time, PermanentKingston University Service Company are looking for a Health and Safety Support Officer to join their team.Whats on offer 25 days holiday (pro rata) plus 8 bank holidays, the holiday year now runs from 1st August to the 31st July Join Pension after 3 months through Legal & General Life Assurance - Legal & General from day one at no extra cost to the employee NUS card in December Training - Mandatory trainingHealth and Safety Support Officer - The Role:You will be responsible for the administration and development of the Permit to Work procedures within the University in conjunction with Kingston University, Kingston university Services Company, Health & Safety and Project Managers.You will arrange inductions for contractors and new in-house personnel which will involve liaising with Kingston University technical staff, faculty managers, estates staff and contractors.Additional Responsibilities; Maintain the permit to work database ensuring that this is up to date Design, develop and introduce revised processes covering the issue of permits to work to meet changing legislative and business needs. Prepare and log the cancelation of work permits Ensuring all Permit to Work policies are signed and kept up to date Review all permit submissions by the permit office, checking that all risk assessments meet legislative requirements Assist in the Health & Safety monitoring of approved contractors Identifying any discrepancies with Health & Safety procedures and highlighting this to the appropriate manager Monitor the permit to work system and develop plans for continuous improvement Provide a monthly summary of Permit to Work related statistics Provide administration support to the Estates and Asset Department, raising purchasing orders, work orders, following up with contractors, minute meetings, issuing reports on audits or inspections Manage the E learning platform Provide a monthly report on E learning for the number of employees registered, courses completed and courses outstanding Provide cover when required for the H&S Officer to undertake inductions for new employeesPlease Note: this job description is not exhaustive, nor is it intended to beHealth and Safety Support Officer - What we need from you:We are looking for someone who has sound and up to date knowledge of Health & Safety legislations and supporting legislations.Essential The ability to travel between campuses as and when required The ability to operate Microsoft Office based systems The ability to operate SharePoint Proven knowledge and experience of working with Computer Aided Facility Management Software i.e.; Plannon The ability to communicate confidently and clearly with members of staff at all levels Be fully flexible with a good level of self-motivation A highly demonstrable level of organisational skills The ability to work with little to no direction with a good level of self-motivationDesirable NEBOSH National Certificate Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent) Full Driving Licence with access to your own vehicleA bit about usKingston University Services Company (KUSCO) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Kingston University (KU) London.KUSCO provides a range of Facilities Management services to the University, including buildings maintenance, security, cleaning and caretaking, management of the majority of the Universitys Halls of Residence and the reception functions throughout the KUcampuses.If you feel you have the skills and experience to be successful in this role, apply today!No agencies please.
