A Specialty Doctor post is available within the Directorate of General Surgery at University Hospital Crosshouse. This post will complement the current team of 10 Consultant General Surgeons (with sub-specialty interests), 3 Consultant Breast Surgeons, 5 Specialty Trainees, 1 Colorectal Fellow, 1 Core Trainee, 3 Clinical Fellows, 1FY2, 1 Associate Specialist Breast Surgeon and 3 Specialty Doctors. There is funding for 4 speciality level doctors in the Department of General Surgery at University Hospital Crosshouse and this position would be the 4th post.University Hospital Crosshouse (539 beds - base population 225,000) was opened in 1982, and has been expanded and upgraded regularly since then. Services in the majority of major specialities are provided at the hospital, as well as Ayrshire-wide services in Laboratory Medicine, Renal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Dermatology, ENT (including the Scottish National Cochlear Implant Centre), Maxillo-Facial Surgery, and Gynaecology. The Terms and Conditions of service are those determined by the New Specialty Doctor Grade (Scotland) 2008 and are offered on a 10 programmed activity basis, however, it is anticipated that a further 2 programmed activities will be available to meet the needs of the service.Appropriately experienced applicants must hold Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council, and have completed at least 4 years full-time postgraduate training, of which at least 2 years will have been within general surgery.Informal enquiries may be addressed to Miss CM Sharp, Consultant Surgeon, University Hospital Crosshouse, telephone.For further information including job description and how to apply please visit You should also upload evidence of GMC Registration.
