The post holder is required to work collaboratively in a safe, caring and respectful way.An opportunity has arisen for a Peer Recovery Worker within the East Ayrshire Community Addiction Team. The post holder will be based in Lister Street, University Hospital Crosshouse and will be flexible to work evenings.The post holder will work in accordance with the key recovery principles and provide peer support to people with drug and alcohol issues. They will be able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and have an understanding of the impact of alcohol or drug misuse on individuals, families and communities. They should have a willingness to engage in training opportunities to enhance your knowledge base and promote continuing personal development.Prospective candidates will have an SVQ 3 in Healthcare or relevant previous experience working with people who have mental health and addiction problems. The post holder will have lived experience of a recovery journey from an alcohol or drug issue and be able to demonstrate a commitment to supporting recovery from alcohol and/or drugs for others. A full current driving license is essential for this post.This post has been funded through the Scottish Government Drug Death Task Force to provide Motivational interviewing to people who are in hospital and who may also be resistant to Opiate Replacement therapy.
