The post holder is required to work collaboratively in a safe, caring and respectful way.As a Nursing Assistant/Clinical Support Worker you will work within the Combined Assessment Unit at University Hospital Crosshouse. This is a dual role which is wide and varied and can change throughout a shift. In collaboration with the shift coordinator and Senior Charge Nurse, you will be able to adjust to the requirements of four very different care areas, these are RED and GREEN initial assessment, same day care (Ambulatory/Rapid Assessment) and in-patient zone. You must understand the different streams of care, and adapt to the different needs of the patients in these streams.You must be able to identify acutely unwell adults and report to the relevant responsible nurse. You must be able to prioritise your workload and work autonomously to achieve the shift requirementsYou will have an accurate knowledge of the expectations of HEI and OPAH within the area and meet the expectations of the support systems in place to ensure safe practice within the unitCAU has a large patient group and you must be supportive to the needs of the team Essential criteria for a Band 3 within CAU, in addition to the skills of the Band 2 HCA • Competent with cannulation and venepuncture• Competent with performing ECG• Competent with performing blood glucose monitoring• Competent with performing and recording observations• Understand the relevance of all the above skills to patient careHours: Various hours available which will be discussed at interview.Informal enquires to one of the Senior Charge Nurses at the CAU on/826847.
