Job Description

POSITION:Marketing OfficerSALARY:£23,010BENEFITS:Company PensionHOURS:Full-time- 8.30am to 4.30pmLOCATION:Kilmacolm, PA13 4EQDESCRIPTION:Our client is oneof Scotlands highest achieving schools, nestled in the beautiful town of Kilmacolm, near Glasgow. They prepare their young people for the world in a warm and welcoming atmosphere where each pupil is known and recognised as an individual.The Marketing Officer will support the Head of Development, Marketing and Admissions in the delivery of effective marketing and communications in this newly established department within the school.Assist in effectively marketing the school both internally and externally by relationship-building, managing the schools online platforms; producing an array of print and digital marketing materials and general marketing administration.The role will involve working closely with colleagues in Admissions and Development to support pupil recruitment and former pupil activity.Key responsibilities and duties:Promotion of the school and its activities working closely with the Head of Development, Marketing and Admissions:

  • Digital media content management: responsibility for the school’s social channels, website and app.
  • Design and production of school publications, adverts and general collateral (both print and digital).
  • Research and write engaging copy (press releases/ editorial content, for example) and update facts for online directories.
  • Book, attend and manage marketing for outreach activities, where applicable.
  • Liaise with suppliers eg. printers, journalists and advertising representatives.
  • Produce video clips.
  • Track marketing activity eg. Google Analytics.
  • Produce activity reports.
  • Assist with the organisation and running of events including those held outside normal working hours.
  • Conduct market and competitor research.
  • Maintain a database of marketing/ media contacts.
  • Maintain and work to marketing plans.
  • Carry out other duties as requested by the Rector and/or the Head of Development, Marketing and Admissions.
    • THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
  • Educated to degree level with experience in marketing, specifically in digital media marketing.
  • Ability to work independently to manage the Marketing function but a team player who will contribute meaningfully to a small team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Resourceful and enthusiastic about making the role your own, you will have an innovative and creative mind with a proven record of presenting ideas/suggestions.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail, specifically in written and design work.
  • Resourceful and dynamic, you will try anything at least once.
  • Proficient in Adobe packages including InDesign and Photoshop (Illustrator – not essential).
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as the post requires.
  • Live within a commutable distance and have the right to work in the UK

  • Prior experience working in the education sector and an understanding of the difficulties faced by independent schools.
  • Understanding of market and competitor research.
