Sustainability & Environment Coordinator

Job Description

GBR Recruitment are working exclusively with a leading manufacturing business recruiting for an experienced Group Sustainability & Environment Coordinator who will effectively coordinate effective environmental compliance working practices along with driving the very latest sustainability initiatives in order to reduce the companies global footprint/ impact on the environment contributing to a greener world.This is a great opening for someone from within a comparable role, someone who is super passionate about all things Eco friendly at Coordinator level.The company has a passion to promote greener environmentally friendlier ways of working & this is the key role you will undertake making a real difference.Duties:

• Leading all environmental management plus ISO14001 & FSC certification across the company, understanding all aspects of the business that have an impact currently on the environment.
• Setting environmental objectives for the businesses, reporting on the current environmental performance to both internal plus external stakeholders, evaluating the current status & driving CI methodology.
• Leading the carbon accounting processes, conducting annual Scope 1, 2 & 3 emissions across the group, setting achievable & realistic carbon footprint reduction targets whilst investing in carbon offsetting/avoidance schemes.
• Keeping up to date with relevant Environmental / Sustainability legislation, policies, guidance & best practices.
• Effectively lead & grow the groups sustainability strategy to both support industry requirements plus contributing towards the selected UN SDGs
• Being the sustainability expert representative for the group, responsible for educating colleagues effectively driving a new Eco / Sustainability culture across the office & manufacturing environments.
• Communicate to each department their involvement plus impact within the sustainability strategy.
• Effectively liaise with all suppliers to ensure sustainable procurement is achieved, as well as conducting annual audits with the supply chain manager awarding sustainability ratings.
• Work with the product design team to enhance the sustainability credentials of the product portfolio including product design, material innovation, chemical compliance, packaging, plus product end-of-life management.
• Support the sales team with customer requests surrounding certification, along with product data, plus company sustainability information.
• Social responsibility lead.

Desired Attributes (not essential):

• Knowledge of the manufacturing, built environment or engineering industries is ideal but other sectors considered too.
• Knowledge of social, environmental & sustainability issues / trends
• Ideally experienced in managing ISO14001 plus FSC certification
• Ideally experienced in conducting Scope 1, 2 & 3 carbon emissions
• Ideally experienced in conducting product life cycle assessments
• Knowledge of LEED, BREEAM, WELL and SKA Rating is ideal not a must have though
• Knowledge of both the UN Sustainable Development Goals & the UN Global Compact is beneficial
• Knowledge in energy efficiency plus environmental impact reduction strategies
