Supervisor: The job holder reports to the Head of Product DevelopmentPurpose of Job: To develop new and existing products for the waste recycling industry, driving quality, cost, time and standardisation.Job Role1. Designing new, innovative products to meet the requirements of their expanding customer base and diversity of the waste recycling sector2. Continuous improvement of existing products and processes3. Ensuring design quality, cost, time and standardisation are appropriately considered throughout design and delivery process4. Produce detailed manufacturing drawings from 3D models (SolidWorks).5. Creation and maintenance of supporting documentation for manufacture, operating manuals, health and safety, maintenance etc6. Creating and managing BOM’s (Bill of Materials) within company MRP system7. Define product technical specifications taking into account both internal design standards and legislative/mandated industry standards8. Challenge existing designs and manufacturing methods9. Work closely with the Manufacturing department, Project Engineers and Sales team to ensure designed products meet the requirements of the business10. Liase with both customers and suppliers to deliver the best solution possible11. Be hands-on and pro-active, own the product development from initial concept through design, release, manufacturing, testing and commissioningSkills & Capabilities1. Technical knowledge of the design process including gateway based delivery systems2. Creative and innovative with a desire to continuously improve3. Effective organisational skills4. Excellent problem-solving skills with knowledge of 8D, 6Sigma or equivalent5. Flexible and dependable6. Good team player7. Able to efficiently communicate both written and oralQualifications & Experience1. Experience as a Design Engineer, Product Development engineer, R&D2. Degree/HNC or equivalent within mechanical / manufacturing engineering subject3. Experience in bespoke special purpose machinery design and fabricated products preferred4.
