Job Description

We’re looking for a Process Engineer to aid in the development of our Kettering site. This role works closely with the Production and Shift Managers to maintain all quality assurance and process controls in the manufacturing process, ensure ongoing continuous improvement and make sure the DS Smith standards are followed by all on site.Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for working to HSER standards using all Leadership in action tools
  • Responsible for meeting all legislative Health and Safety standards
  • Undertake audits to personally verify the validity and accuracy of results recorded in the process
  • Drive the process conformance through application of process control in action (PCA) methodology
  • Assist in troubleshooting quality issues arising from process audits
  • Drive productivity improvement through provision of a stable process platform
  • Line speed optimisation, DPPM, Waste, unplanned downtime, adherence to operational routines are all key KPI’s
  • Works closely the Operation team members to ensure standard work is adhered to and opportunities for improvement are identified
  • Works closely with the Engineering team to ensure reliable performance of the equipment on site; this includes calibration routines, preventative maintenance and general asset care
  • To be successful in this role you should have experience of Process Engineering and preferably hold an Engineering/Science degree or equivalent qualification.Experience of Corrugating processes is highly desirable. You’ll also need a good understanding of Lean process within a lean manufacturing environment and have proven knowledge of using continuous improvement tools and techniques.Other key attributes include SPC in action and PCA manufacturing experience and strong analytical and problem solving skills. You should have strong process capability knowledge and be able to communicate effectively with different stakeholder groups.A recognised qualification such as Six Sigma would be beneficial.
