Job Description

Chemical Technologist required to join a team working within a busy laboratory testing facility with head offices in Kettering, Northants.The position will be based in a department dedicated to chemical and analytical technology serving a range of industry sectors and products including PPE, footwear, toys, luggage etc.The job holder will be heavily focused on providing efficient customer liaison to include:

  • Advising and agreeing appropriate chemical testing work programs
  • Planning and scheduling of tests
  • Discussing results with customers
  • Producing accurate detailed reports to strict deadlines
  • Applications are invited from candidates with the following qualifications / experience:
  • A level in a science related subject and, ideally, mathematics
  • Previous testing / analytical experience essential
  • Familiar with chemical instrumentation ie: GC-MS, UV-Vis and FT-IR
  • Ability to demonstrate a methodical approach to work and a meticulous eye for detail
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Highly motivated, reliable, flexible and able to learn new skills quickly
  • Competent with MS Word, Excel and other basic computer software
  • Desirable:
  • Degree level qualification in chemistry or related subject
  • Customer facing experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • The successful candidate will undergo training in order to eventually deliver presentations at seminars / webinars and conduct face to face meetings with customers, which may involve overseas travel in the future.The Chemical Technologist’s role offers a great opportunity to join a well-respected and specialist organization based in Northamptonshire, servicing customers across the UK and worldwide.Further information and salary details available on application.
