Aspiring Occupational Therapist in Kettering - Education and Training - Aspiring Occupational Therapist in KetteringWe are looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant/ABA Trainee Tutor to support children with Autism, complex social needs and associated challenging behaviours.October 31st start, Monday to Friday 8:30 to 3:30, working with outstanding SEN specialists and likeminded graduates.The School:This school is a special school for Autism, located in Kettering - provides a safe learning environment and outstanding education for pupils aged 7-16, typically with a primary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and / or Speech, Language & CommunicationNeeds (SLCN). You will work with children who are verbal and nonverbal, mixed ability to very high functioning studentsThe school has a Therapy Departments which is staffed by qualified therapists and therapy assistants, the school encourage aspiring Occupational, Art, Music and Speech and Language Therapists to apply.The school is fully equipped area for Occupational Therapy and Sensory Integration, relaxation and meditation rooms and spaces.Combined with ABA and the mainstream UK curriculum for Primary and Secondary aged students, Therapists and fellow graduates are based around the school and have a clinic room for individual work. Much therapy follows a blended model of therapeutic interventionwhich is delivered across the curriculum, and there is close liaison with teaching staff and parents. The therapists are involved in the ongoing development of the school, providing training and support for teachers and staff.Aspiring Occupational Therapist in Kettering - Education and Training - Aspiring Occupational Therapist in KetteringProfessional Skills & Requirements:* Safety of the students, their safeguarding is paramount and the basis of what you will do in school* Can you make their lives just that little bit better on that given day* Willing to work 1:1 and in small groups with students* Demonstrating the value of an education to the children* Able to encourage the development of social skills and support students individual needs* C/5 grades in GSCE English and Mathematics* Able to provide behaviour and pastoral support* Attending staff meetings and complete appropriate CPD* Having the ownership to speak with your colleagues when you see something that concerns you, approach it in the right, professional mannerPersonal Qualities:* Passionate about raising childrens social and emotional attainment* Knowing your objectives* Working well with children and staff, being an integral part of the staff room* Ability to remain calm and resilient when placed in situations of stress or conflict.
