Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Head of Volunteer Development to join our clients childrens charity based in Keele, where youll lead the Volunteer Team to influence and shape the volunteering strategic plan for all departments across theCharity. They provide a state-of-the-artbase for the Charitys therapies and an environment where ground-breaking research can be undertaken, potentially changing the way some disabilities are treated, affecting millions of people around the world.The Charity is going through an exciting period of growth, and this is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic and fast-moving organisation at a time when it will attract national and international attention.About the RoleThe role of Head of Volunteer Development is instrumental in developing the profile of volunteers throughout the Charity and you will:

  • Build the volunteer resource through innovative opportunities and by deepening the charitys community connections
  • Monitor, challenge and evolve the training and support offered to volunteers to establish a culture of continual improvement and a focus on the increasing capability of the volunteer team
  • Be focussed on attracting high quality, skilled individuals to volunteer roles within the Charity that align to the requirements of the departments
  • Have a high level relationship skills which are absolutely critical to this role, partnering with senior managers, line managers and other stakeholders to develop credibility and business impact.
  • Create innovative new recruitment partnerships and build relationships with medical and non-medical voluntary organisations to promote volunteering opportunities across the organisation.
About the ResponsibilitiesAs Head of Volunteer Development, you will:
  • Along with the Volunteer Engagement Manager, oversee the on-boarding and training programme, continually evolving and adapting this to the needs of the Charity
  • Be integral to the development of new funding opportunities and the submission of tenders from a volunteer perspective
  • Promote and market volunteer opportunities nationally, reaching wider audiences, demonstrating the use of different marketing media and approaches
  • Monitor and evaluate all aspects of volunteer activity to ensure effectiveness
  • Attend nationwide volunteer recruitment events throughout the UK
  • Ensure the Volunteer Department is compliant with ISO requirements
  • Produce regular reports on volunteer activity and participation
  • Maintain the current corporate volunteer opportunities available to local and national organisations
  • Work alongside organisations to increase corporate volunteering and match funded opportunities
About YouTo be successful for the role of Head of Volunteer Development, you must have solid experience of leading and growing a volunteering function in an active fundraising environment, with the fundraising team as key stakeholders. You will have expertisein using data and analytics to evaluate and demonstrate the value that volunteering brings. It is essential that you have:
  • Experience of leading and growing a volunteering function in an active fundraising environment
  • Proven track-record of attracting skilled volunteers into an organisation
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Demonstrable skill in building relationships at all levels
  • High level of proficiency with Information technology, Excel, Word, Outlook etc
  • Excellent team-working, time management, organisational and communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a positive can-do attitude
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • A personal commitment to the organisations values and principles.
  • A commitment to uphold the rights of children., vulnerable and disabled people
  • A commitment and the organisations approaches to equality and diversity.

About the RewardsIn the role of Head of Volunteer Development, you will work 37.5 hours per week and there is a salary on offer of £40,000 to £50,000 per annum, depending on experience.The Charity is committed to safeguarding children and young people and therefore adopts a safer recruitment approach through a robust recruitment and selection process. All posts within the Charity are subject to DBS checks, in line with the Rehabilitationof Offenders Act (1974).
