Job Description

Summary Were looking for a creative and collaborative leader to take forward the curatorial direction of one of the National Trusts most significant historic house, garden and parkland properties.Osterley House, known as the palace of palaces, is an internationally significant Robert Adam masterpiece. Osterley was designed to impress, an ethos which ripples out into the gardens, pleasure grounds and parkland estate beyond. Click here for more information about this location What youll be doing Reporting directly to the General Manager, with professional support from internal specialists, youll continue the development and delivery of the curatorial vision and long-term planning for the house, garden and park. Youll collaborate closely with theProperty Leadership Team including Visitor Experience, Head Gardener, Lead Ranger, Facilities and Commercial teams. Youll lead the team responsible for developing and improving collections care and management. Youll work to enhance the relevance of Osterley,demonstrating public benefit through high-quality and innovative presentation, research, interpretation and programming.Youll access the full and honest history of Osterley working with specialists, partners, local communities and source communities to ensure historic accuracy and representation work hand-in-hand. Who were looking for We value lived experience as well as formal knowledge and skills, and welcome applicants able to demonstrate the following:

  • In-depth understanding and experience of working across historic properties and collections
  • Good experience of collections management and care, and knowledge of how to take an informed and broad approach to conservation management
  • Experience of team leadership, with a strong understanding of how to work collaboratively
  • Ability to connect with a wide range of audiences
  • Capability to undertake, lead on, interpret, and respond to external and internal research, intelligence, and analysis
  • Passion, knowledge and inspiration as well as a practical, pragmatic and sensible approach to problem solving
  • Relevant formal academic / professional / vocational qualifications in Art History, Museum Studies and related fields
