Job Description

Water is essential to daily life, and that means our business is always open.What youll be doingAs a Project Engineer for Lifecycle and Welfare programmes you will be responsible for keeping our buildings secure at the same time as making a positive impact on the welfare of our key workers. The successful candidate will be responsible for scoping, tenderingand managing numerous projects with regular reporting to the Delivery Manager. You will be working across a whole range of locations from water & waste sites to corporate and historically important locations. This is a perfect job if you are looking for moreof a work-life balance. You will join a highly collaborative and supportive team and will be expected to travel across the London Region. Your main duties and responsibilities will consist of the following:

  • Managing and delivering a portfolio of Lifecycle and Welfare projects, with a typical value of £40k to £400k per project
  • Responsibility for up to 10 live projects at any one time, with further projects in the scoping and tendering phase
  • Working with our operational teams and contractors to scope, define and cost solutions that are both cost effective and future proof the assets
  • Managing the clients site requirements ensuring minimal impact to the operational functionality of the site
  • Promoting our zero-compromise attitude to health and safety and striving for continuous improvement at all times
  • Complying with our Health and Safety requirements, and ensuring that all projects comply with the Construction, Design and Management Regulations (CDM)
  • Working collaboratively with delivery partners and contractors to ensure that schemes are delivered on time and within budget
  • Maintaining compliance with our Asset Standards and associated British Standards
  • Financial forecasting of all live projects and reporting on the value of work done (VOWD)
  • Drafting, vetting and approving pre-construction information, project programmes, risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), and construction phase plans (CPP)
  • Ensuring that completion documents are available and handed over including test certificates, operation and maintenance manuals, health and safety files, and as-constructed drawings
  • This is a Full-Time position but Part-Time applications will also be considered
  • This position will be based at Ryemeads, however, we are also looking for project Engineers in Earlswood and Mogden
  • Required to travel to other sites for a minimum of 3 days per week, within approximately 40 mile radius with some working from home
  • 36 hours per week, Monday-Friday
  • £4,500 car allowance
Were looking for you to
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and have your own transport
  • Have had previous experience managing contractors.
  • Hold a HND/HNC/BEng/NVQ Level 4 in construction management, mechanical, electrical, civil engineering or equivalent or have a strong construction, mechanical or electrical background.
  • Have a good understanding of accurate plans and drawings and be able to challenge designs and resolve problems to conclusion
  • Have good project management, communication and financial management skills as well as having sound knowledge of construction methods, health and safety, and legal regulations
  • Possess strong organisational, planning and time management skills; able to manage projects simultaneously without compromising on standards and quality
  • Have the ability to develop friendly and professional customer focused relations with others
