Water is essential to daily life, and that means our business is always open.What you will be doingThis exciting opportunity will give you the chance to be a key part of our wastewater treatment business. You will lead a team who provide technical support to operations performance managers at Mogden Sewage Treatment works (the third largest in the UK) andits satellite sites. You will also be the senior lead for the maintenance team across the area, ensuring maintenance plans are delivered and identifying areas for improvement. This role will be critical in helping to ensure that the agreed compliance and servicelevels are achieved both now and, in the future, and enable us to drive strategic change in maintenance.You role will include the below key responsibilities.Technical: Providing technical input and securing funding for site improvement projects Owning and optimising the maintenance plan in conjunction with the needs of the operations team Monitoring and improving plant availability, performance, and reliability Investigating critical plant failures and ensuring corrective actions are taken Driving technological improvements to give a reduction in the maintenance serviceability costs for key assets Coordinating all planned service contracts across the area with our supply chain Developing a planned capital maintenance strategy and coordinating the delivery of these projects Partaking in the Out of Hours Coordinator rota for the Mogden and South West AreasHealth and Safety: Ensuring that a culture of behavioural safety is embedded and that the health, safety and wellbeing of employees and other affected person are top priority Delivering all statutory inspections and coordinating all recommended rectification work. To include lifting equipment, generator maintenance, boilers, digester ancillaries, pressure vessels and DSEAR compliance To work towards appointment into the following key roles: COTC (Certificate of Technical Competence), SAT (Senior Authorised Tester), APD (Authorised Person Digester) and APL (Authorised Person Lifting)People: Line managing 5 direct reports (3 x Technical Coordinator, 1 x Area Services Coordinator, 1 x Maintenance Team Manager), and 18 indirect reports (18 x Maintenance Technicians and Apprentices) Technical development of apprentices in the area to ensure they have access to the right jobs to build their learning portfolios, ensuring they have a competent mentor and to conduct regular reviews with them individually to ensure they are developing asexpected To proactively manage the engagement of your team utilising our Hear For You survey to develop a local action planWe are looking for you to have the following: A background in industrial mechanical / electrical maintenance including planned and reactive maintenance Ideally have a relevant engineering qualification such as a BTEC / NVQ L3 or equivalent in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, a BTEC HNC Electrical / Mechanical, or have an ICA background Experience in a leadership and line management position with a proven track record of engaging and developing a team Confidence in taking the lead on technical issues and achieving results, with a strong focus on Health and Safety including legislation, training and statutory inspection Strong organisation, communication and presentation skills Excellent IT skills including Excel and SAPWhats in it for you:Our competitive salary package includes an excellent contributory pension, 26 days holiday per year increasing to 30 with the length of service and a wider benefits scheme.Thames Water is a unique, rewarding, and diverse place to work.
