Job Description

Did you know we have been awarded top UK & Global Employer 5 Years Running!This role will see you working with our Scotframe brand, a leading supplier of award winning timber frame kits for self-build and commercial home developers across the UK and internationally.In this role, you will design, quantify and prepare drawings for Production and Site Operatives, as well as liaise with all departments and clients to uphold Scotframes reputation for quality and customer service.Key Responsibilities

  • Complete timber frame design for a selection of building types involving producing timber frame manufacture drawings for walls, floors and roof trusses and ensuring that all projects are designed to meet Scotframes standard detailing and specification
  • Produce clear and concise timber frame manufacture drawings and site layouts with sound interpretation and understanding of architectural and engineering drawings
  • Liaise with external partners for support e.g. roof structure design or external joinery design
  • Organise material procurement through coordination with our suppliers, ensuring that appropriate quantities of project materials are scheduled - a right first time approach
  • Maintain good working relationships with clients and team members
  • Identify areas for improvement in processes and practices and recommend improvements to support unrivalled customer service
  • Manage potential claims associated with area of responsibility professionally and with minimal liability while taking responsibility where appropriate
  • Ensure construction simplicity is accounted for in structural design
  • Provide routine updates on current workload progress to Estimating & Design Manager
What skills and experience are we looking for
  • Experience of a technical department and the understanding of the principles of Timber Frame Construction
  • Strong communication skills at all levels, both written and verbal
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate initiative to spot and highlight areas of potential improvement
  • Able to manage workload and work to tight deadlines
  • Able to work on own or as part of a team
  • IT literate in systems relevant to role i.e. CAD Software (MiTek / Vertex specifically)
  • Good business and commercial awareness - preferably gained from similar industry
  • Able to translate technical language into simple terms
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills
  • Willingness to excel and ultimately accomplish the highest levels of design output
