Job Description

We source only the highest quality sustainable timberand combine cutting edge manufacturing processes with a professional, bespoke service to deliver a fully customised product designed for the life our customers build.Scotframe is part of the Saint-Gobain group, global winners of the TOP EMPLOYER award for 5 consecutive years (2016-2021)Designers - roles in Commercial and Self BuildBased in Scotland Inverurie, Inverness, Dundee or Cumbernauld OfficeWere looking for Designers in both our Commercialand Self Build Sectors to take ownership of projects for our full Timber Frame product and service offer, from design through to delivery for our commercial and self-buildcustomers. Youll be responsible for design activity, aftercare and liaising with internal and external stakeholders, all the while upholding Scotframes reputation for unrivalled quality and customer service.What youll be doing as a Designer:

  • Responsible as the main design contact for particular clients/projects
  • Undertake thorough analysis into our scope of works for each project and maintain Scotframes high standard of workmanship and presentation, including design detailing and maximized safety and buildability for project complexities
  • Liaise, coordinate and resolve any project concerns with internal and external contributors including Estimators, Architects, Engineers, Clients and Contractors
  • Communicate directly with clients, attend pre-contract and site progress meetings as required
  • Produce timber frame manufacture drawings for walls, floors, roof trusses or roof cassettes
  • Organise appropriate material procurement through collaboration / coordination with our suppliers and co-ordinate material to suit clients schedule
  • Maintain good working relationships with clients and team members and focus on achieving high customer satisfaction
  • Forward development and ideas to maintain the continual growth of Scotframe high technical standards including embracing continuous improvement and seeking innovative ways to maximise design efficiency
  • Share knowledge and experience with less experienced members of design team to assist in their on-going development
What were looking for in a Designer:
  • Experience of a technical department and the understanding of the principles of Timber Frame Construction including comprehensive technical knowledge on current building regulations and environmental standards
  • Commitment to customer service and taking ownership of issues through to resolution
  • Focus on achievement of performance goals and priorities
  • Strong communication skills at all levels, both written and verbal
  • Ability to act quickly and promptly resolve any unforeseen difficulties when required
  • HNC / HND Building qualification or equivalent desirable
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate initiative to spot and highlight improvement opportunities
  • Able to manage workload and work to tight deadlines
