Job Description

BRIEF OVERVIEWDSV is looking to recruit a Transport Planner Haulage based in Immingham. The person we are looking for must be self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook and a clear focus on high job quality.Reporting to the Transport Manager and Transport Supervisors, as a Transport planner you will be responsible for controlling and planning 25 to 40 owned & sub-contractor vehicles making sure that drivers and internal departments are kept informed at all times and operating systems are updated.You will have at least 1 year experience in planning vehicles / deliveries / collections and have a good geographical knowledge of the UK and a clear understanding of driver tachograph rules and regulations along with working time directive regulations and excellent communication skills. You will be working as part of a team of 5 planners each running a similar number of vehicles and will be expected to work together to ensure optimal vehicle planning and on time deliveries and collections.KEY TASKS

  • Managing a fleet of up to 40 vehicles and planning routes in accordance with delivery times and driver hours / working time directive.
  • Communicate with drivers and hauliers to ensure issues are resolved promptly Ensure legislative compliance in all areas.
  • Ensure that the company operates within all agreed operational procedures, and within statutory requirements including the provision and maintenance of a safe working environment.
  • Prepare correct documentation to the Warehouse/Haulage/Distribution/ Shipping department for loading/ offloading cargo to vehicles, in a timely manner, ensuring all hazardous requirements are met.
  • Perform and correctly implement General Administration, e.g. check costs in accordance with departmental requirements, create CMRs, communicate efficiently and effectively (via use of VDUs, telephone, etc.) with internal and external customers, suppliers, and other offices, as required by operational procedures.
    • SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of transport modes and regulations, specific to the job (driving/resting time regulations, customs, IMCO or ADR goods, documents).
  • Good oral and written knowledge of the English language.
  • Knowledge of Polish language is a bonus
  • Microsoft Office and other frequent used computer programs.
  • Work well in a team.
  • Hands-on person, you are used to solve issues when they occur
