Job Description

The role is responsible for the smooth execution of rail freight across the North East - Amongst being the central point of contact with internal stakeholders and rail operators to deliver continuous service and improve efficiencys, you will also pro-activelyreview supply chain routes and implement sustainable initiatives with the relevent stakeholders and provide guidance and information across teams.Client DetailsMy Client is a reputable Logistics service provider to various industries ranging from dangerous goods such as chemicals and gas to the essentials like food. Currently over 1500 people employed globally and active in over 20 different countries with ambitionsto double those numbers in the near future with the increasing need for logistics based solutions around the globe.DescriptionThe main responcibilities of the Rail Freight Planner will be to undertake the following tasks:

  • Ensuring accurate execution of SHEQ policy in own work
  • Optimizes the logistics services provided in terms of efficiency and effectiveness
  • Continuous improvement and proactively streamline internal processes to ensure business efficiencies
  • Responsible for achieving and maintaining KPIs
  • Notifies stakeholders on delays, changes, deviations and possible optimization of the transport order
  • Ensures the correct input of the assignment data into the Transport System (Transfusion). Monitors the progress of the execution of the job and takes prompt action if necessary
  • Responsible for liaising with rail operators with regards to execution of the order and instructs rail operators in case of prioritization of container shipments
  • Responsible for and monitors the pre-booking, departures, and arrivals of rail modalities
  • Internally escalates service and performance issue information
  • Identifying opportunities to maximise the rail service utilisation
  • Continually optimises the logistics process by participating in improvement initiatives
  • Managing accurate cost allocation and distribution
ProfileThe ideal Rail Freight Planner will have the following traits and attributes:
  • 2 years experience minimum (Transport Sector)
  • Degree educated (Preffered)
  • Organisational skills towards daily tasks and responsibilities
  • Attention to detail and high quality standards
  • Capability to work under pressure and adapt
  • Initiative and ability to process information
  • Team focused - the role requires you to work with the internal and external teams of the business
  • Positive business approach towards communication
