Job Description

The Role An opportunity has arisen for a Fleet Controller - Containers within our Logistics Division. The role will be centred around ensuring our container fleet is available, maintained and cost effective across the business. Overseeingthe allocation and utilisation of circa 3000 containers across Europe. This will include managing maintenance plans, which involves controlling suppliers, cost budgets, administering the internal database platforms and approving expenditure. We are lookingfor you to ensure that our key internal customers are receiving continuously improved service levels, with the right sized agile fleet, which allows us to present the DFDS brand, in a world class manner. On a day-to-day basis, the role will normally involveworking with the small Equipment Team in Immingham, but regular dialogue with internal customers is essential. European travel will be required periodically to enhance customer solutions and delivery.Main responsibilities of the role:

  • Managing supplier relationships across the European network.
  • Be the key liaison with Group operational equipment users.
  • Control of off-hire process with rental providers.
  • Management of empty movements / positioning of containers.
  • Auditing of SLAs with repairing network.
  • Authorisation / challenging of container maintenance repairs.
  • Control annual fleet replacement programme.
  • Lead weekly utilisation meetings.
  • An element of European travel required.
Who we wantThe ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, who can maintain and develop relationships remotely, coupled with strong IT skills, and the ability to use multiple systems. A dynamic individual with great planning skills,who is intuitive, but also able to manage suppliers and ensure policy and process is adhered. We are looking for a self-motivated person who can drive change, remain flexible and customer focused with good communication skills and an eye for detail. The abilityto work collaboratively across various workgroups with a sense of diplomacy. Within the team a clear concise and cordial type of culture is developing which we are looking to continue.
