Job Description

Technical Lead High Volume parts TechnicianPermanent position IlminsterDay shift hours (07.00 to 16.30 Monday to Wednesday, 07.00 to 16.00 Thursday).Salary £27,500 to £32,500 depending on experience.CNC Recruitment are working as a recruitment agency and proud to be representing a hugely successful engineering business.Do you have a sound technical and operational knowledge of CNC machinesDo you have Experience of high-volume parts and/or experience of working to high specifications both dimensionally and visualA sound working knowledge and understanding of dimensional drawingsWorking within a successful innovative engineering business, you will work as part of a friendly team, and for a company that promotes real career progression. The aim of the role is to achieve the objectives set by the Production Manager and Team Leaderto ensure the continued smooth running of the Small Turbo cell meeting production and quality targets.Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • To ensure the cell is on track meeting production and quality targets, focusing on key constraints.
  • To maintain production boards within the cell with the relevant up to date information to aid production planning.
  • To establish agreed down times with the Team Leader for change overs and TPM.
  • To report any unplanned down time to the Team Leader.
  • To carry out change overs, tip changes, offsets, adjustments.
  • Support other team members with the running of the cell.
  • To update the Team Leader on a daily basis of performance.
  • To attend daily department meetings.
  • To work closely with the Team Leader, Production Manager, and the HR team in identifying skill gap risks establishing priorities for training.
  • To work closely with quality and visual inspection to ensure standards are upheld.
  • To be part of 8D investigations to support customer compliance
  • Working alongside Team Leader and Continuous Improvement team to help create training material including standard working documents, based on best practice. Where evidence of best practice does not exist to use the appropriate tools and techniques to establishbest practice
  • To ensure all TPM, check lists and 6S records are kept to date and displayed correctly.
  • To participate or lead in 6S and Kaizen activities within the cell and across site.
  • To undertake projects agreed by Team Leader and Production Manager.
The ideal person will have the following skill-set
  • Engineering related qualification at City & Guilds level or equivalent, business improvement techniques training. A lower-level qualification that is supported with relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Sound technical and operational knowledge of CNC machines.
  • Experience of high-volume parts and/or experience of working to high specifications both dimensionally and visual.
  • A sound working knowledge and understanding of dimensional drawings.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. The job holder will be required to demonstrate the ability to communicate confidently and clearly.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to cope with changing demands whilst under pressure of time constraints.
  • An ability to work well with others and to support the team.
  • Experienced in the use of Excel spreadsheets and Word documentation to record data.
  • A high standard of numeracy and literacy, and the ability to analyse information in a range of formats.
  • The ability to apply sound judgment to problem solving and challenging situations
