Job Description

Help in delivering the 10 year strategic plan to become a digital organisation through an ambitious transformation programme covering infrastructure, security and new system deployments.The role requires a strong technical background with a hands-on approach and a deep understanding of the technicalities of system, infrastructure and cloud system security, concepts and design.Client DetailsMy client is a large British Charity based in Essex looking to strengthen their infrastructure and security teams in order to help them through an ambitious transformation programme.DescriptionSystem Security Specialist - Large British CharityThe role requires a strong technical background with a hands-on approach and a deep understanding of the technicalities of system, infrastructure and cloud system security, concepts and design.Working in collaboration with the Senior Infrastructure Specialist and key compliance stakeholders the post holder will be instrumental in ensuring the IT Systems comply technically with current and future legislative and regulatory requirements for the security of IT Systems including but not limited to ISO and PCIDSS frameworks.The individual will help manage and deliver new technology solutions into service, while also providing care and maintenance activities for existing systems in collaboration with other technical and operational teams whilst leading and maintaining the secure operation and integrity of systems.The role requires the continuing review, development and definition of security process and to implement appropriate technical solutions to satisfy legislative and compliance requirements in the current and future state technologies.Key Responsibilities:

  • Support current and emerging technologies. Integrating new requirements into the existing infrastructure
  • Ensure technical design adheres to the strategic Enterprise Architecture and best practice with focus on security of systems and data integrity
  • In conjunction with the Infrastructure team - owns and is accountable for Storage, Server Systems, Network and Security infrastructure architecture
  • Ensure technical design adheres to the strategic Enterprise Architecture and best practice
  • Inspire a mixed team to achieve high levels of networking and system engineering excellence.
  • Key Activities
  • Work with IT Management on key activities and projects
  • Participate in architecture reviews, define, create and maintain policy and system documentation of Server Systems, Networking and Security technology standards, processes to support compliance activities
  • Feed into project requirements, understanding business drivers, assisting translation of business requirements into appropriate solutions
  • Lead team development and engagement activities, working closely with colleagues, head of section, other areas of the business and external partners
  • Champion your programme of work alongside existing team members
  • Work within communities of practice, talking about charities work andbringing back insights from other charities/digital businesses/government that will improve the work and processes
  • ProfileSystem Security Specialist - Large British CharityKey areas of knowledge / experience:
  • Knowledge and experience of security systems, threat mitigation and solutions
  • Knowledge of ethical hacking and system hardening and integrity
  • Experience of supporting and maintaining secure systems across multiple diverse technology stacks standard across enterprise IT operations including (but not limited to) Cloud technologies (AWS/Azure/Gsuite), Linux, WIFI, switches/routers, email and security systems
  • Demonstrable experience of working with in-house and third-party development and operational services teams
  • Excellent communication skills to engage and provide transparency with business and IT stakeholders
  • Ability to take initiative, responsibility and work collaboratively
  • Working in an autonomous fashion, empowered to make key decisions
  • Detailed understanding of legislative, financial and reputational risk and experience of putting in working practices to prevent and mitigate errors
  • Recognition of individual and departmental responsibility with regards to confidential information, exhibiting a duty of care across both
