Job Description

We are currently looking to recruit a Class1 or Class 2 7.5 Ton HGV Driver to work within an expanding company that supplies the TV, film and events industries with rental equipment and location supplies. The role is basedfrom Barking, Essex.The salary is based on the licence held, £28-34K based on a 40 hour week. Overtime is available to approximately 50 hours per week which would increase the salary to up to £43K.Hours of work are 2pm/4pm to 11pm/12pm or 1am/2am. Working either Monday to Friday or Thursday to Monday.There is also a morning vacancy available working Thursdays to Mondays 5am/7am to 2pm/4pm.Duties -The companytransports their equipment by in-house drivers utilising a fleet of vehicles including HGVs with Hiab, flatbed 7.5t & 3.5t trucks with winches, Sprinter and Luton vans as well as 4x4 pickups etc. Many of their rental products are towable so confidenceand a license that includes towing is required. Their customers film and work in weird and wonderful places, accordingly this is where you will be expected to drive to. Therefore, drivers need to be able to intuitively solve problems and overcome challengesdaily, whilst reminding positive and professionalno day is the same!

  • Working as part of the driving team drivers will be mainly delivering and collecting plant in and around London and the M25. You may be asked to work at the weekends from time to time.
  • Safely loading and unloading your own vehicles (and supporting other drivers when required). You should be driver industry savvy; how to use a taco card, WTD rules, displaying driver etiquette and being mechanically inclined.
  • Thoroughly checking returned equipment from site and getting paperwork signed accordingly by client. Helping clients set up equipment where requested or required. Most of the deliveries and collections will be within the London and the M25 but on occasionyou may be asked to move equipment to or from one of our other depots around the country or deliver further afield.
  • Carrying out various warehouse and service activities, such as heavy lifting, stacking company equipments onto pallets, use of gully sucking machines etc.
  • Carry out track mat installing when requested.
  • To provide support in the Yard / Warehouse as and when required by the Transport Manager or Branch Manager.
  • Handle customer issues on delivery effectively and contact Transport Leader for assistance if required. Always strive to provide excellent customer service.
Qualification/Experience Needed -
  • Full UK Driving License (with no more than 6 points)
  • Valid CPC
  • Digital Tachograph Card
  • Van driving experience
  • Ability to safety lift and manage products
