We supply businesses in the sectors of food manufacturing, baking, foodservice and retail, and we work closely with customers to co-develop bespokeproducts.About the roleAAK are seeking to appoint a Transport Manager to join the team in Hull which reports directly to the Supply Chain Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a transport /logistics team to ensure the efficient and effective movementof materials, goods and products (including importing and exporting) to ensure that they are in the right place to meet customer demand.ResponsibilitiesThe role is responsible for planning the transport to meet the customers requirements ensuring customer satisfaction and procedural conformance whilst ensuring contractual obligations are met and timely reporting of relevant KPI and financial information.

  • Management of a transport /logistics team - ensuring good control of the processes and compliance for all transport/losistics processes in a changing environment whilst meeting daily KPI and service requirements.
  • Continue to develop and improve the transport/logistics team through coaching and team development.
  • Responsible for driving change positively and effectively by pro-actively managing logistics operational planning and changing customer requirements.
  • Effective control of sub-contractors / Haulier performance through regular assessments/ reviews and action
  • To continually control cost ensuring the transport operation meets but not exceeds budget targets.
  • Effective management of theexports and import procedures and processes
  • Take responsibility for transport related health, safety and environmental activities and incidents. Providing a safe cost effective solution for transport using hauliers and forwarders who adhere to company standards for all elements of the business, meetingan agreed set of standards.
  • Create excellence in customer relationship management by improving the service offered. Ensuring a customer focused approach, being responsive to customer requirements with focus on cost control.
  • Work closely with the management team keeping them informed of any changes and initiatives taken on continuous improvement or cost changes.
  • To ensure good quality communication with the hauliers/ forwarders/ third party companies on a day to day basis,to deliver agreed actions required to keep the operation efficient.
  • Work closely with Procurement during Contract renewal and obtain non contracted freight quotations
About you
  • Have experience working in a similar Transport/Logistics management role.
  • Degree qualified in a relevant field (Supply Chain/ Logistics/ Operations Management/ Business).
  • SAP experience on transport transactions.
  • Knowledge of exporting worldwide, specialist in EU including importing is essential.
  • Proven track record in process improvement in Cost, OTIF and Haulier performance
  • Be a strong people manager with strategic thinking.
  • Have strong passion for the role and drive to make change.
