Job Description

Site Financial Controller required to join a market leading construction business based in Hull on a interim contract - £450 to £500 per dayThe Site Financial Controller will have overall responsibility for site financial accounting, reporting, Internal control and act as Business partner for the site management team. The Site Financial Controller is a key member of both the Site Management teamand the overall Project Controlling team and shares the local site responsibility for commercial and financial aspects and actively drive the projects financial performance from site perspective.The Site Financial Controller will have the following skills, experience and qualifications:

  • ACA, ACCA or ACMA qualified with proven experience working within construction or on large multinational projects.
  • Sound financial management and accounting treatment application.
  • High numeric and sound technical skills.
  • US GAAP and local GAAP exposure.
  • Data handling skills.
  • Very strong IT skills.
  • Commercial and business awareness.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail and an investigative nature.
  • An analytical approach to work.
  • Proactive and positive attitude.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and build strong working relationships.
  • Good time management skills and the ability to prioritize.
  • Strong problem-solving competence.
  • Ability to make quick but balanced decisions.
  • Honesty and personal integrity
Some of the key duties and responsibilities include:
  • Participation in setting up, organising, and closing down the site with particular ownership of the financial and ERP systems.
  • Ensure timely implementation of the ERP system on site
  • Accounting for all site financial activities in the ERP system on site on a timely basis under IFRS GAAP and local GAAP with full accrual for unprocessed transactions.
  • Monthly reconciling accounts and cash management on site.
  • Ensure that all the construction costs are booked against the correct cost positions.
  • Verify the solidity and accuracy of estimate cost at completion and related Cost-to complete, for subcontracting, civil and site activities.
  • Support in identify and cost overrun mitigation actions.
  • Provide regular financial and contractual evaluation of Suppliers and Subcontractors to minimise risk of non-performance.
  • Communicate any observed early warning signs pertaining to potential financial difficulties of Subcontractors on site to Management.
  • Management and accounting of fixed asset on site (including registration and annually inventory check).
  • Involvement in the management of Risks and Opportunities on behalf of Site, including provision of data to stakeholders, evaluation of accuracy of figures reported, and assistance in Risk mitigation processes where required.
  • Be the Guardian of the rules in implementing, communicating and managing internal controls on site including delegation of authority.
  • Ensure that all site financial reporting systems are implemented, procedures documented and strictly adhered to.
  • Involvement as key stakeholder in the preparation (as Process Owner) and follow-up of any site related Action Plans
  • Ensure financial integrity and completeness of site forecast.
  • Ensure compliance to all tax and other relevant local legislation.
  • Provide Site monthly reporting for onshore Project Controller, Lead Project Controller, Unit FD, and Site Manager as required.
  • Clear numerical and transparent presentation of the site costs and performance of all commercially / financially relevant actions derived from that.
