Job Description

Position: Senior Facilities ManagerSalary: Circa £60,000Location: Office based at our Melton Distribution Centre, Jackson Way, Melton (near Hull), HU14 3HJ (Travel Required)Reports to: Property DirectorBenefits: Private pension scheme, private medical cover including cash benefit for dental and optical, income protection, life assurance etc.About Heron Foods:Heron Foods stands as a beacon in the value retail food sector, consistently delivering quality at great value. Since becomingpart of the B&M group we have continued to focus on growth, now operating at 328 stores and counting.Role Overview:As the Senior Facilities Manager, youll be the lynchpin ensuring the seamless day-to-day operation and maintenance of our retail estate & main distribution centre. Upholding both company policies and statutory compliance requirements, youll be playinga pivotal role in maintaining our proud reputation for excellence.Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Reporting directly to the Property Director with responsibility for the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the retail estate & main distribution centre in line with company policies and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Day to day line management of the property helpdesk function and resources including facility co-ordinators and regionally based mobile maintenance assistants.
  • Responsible for delivering a range of hard & soft FM services including planned and reactive works to the building services, refrigeration equipment, building fabric and associated support service aspects.
  • Delivery of minor works energy saving measures as required e.g. LED lighting replacement schemes.
  • Undertake ad hoc building inspections, co-ordinate with contractors on site, initiate and manage any required major works.
  • New shop handover inspections ensuring new store information is captured and incorporated into the property files & maintenance schedules accordingly.
  • Co-ordinate the delivery of any end of lease dilapidation works.
  • Manage a suite of property and facilities related FM contracts.
  • Liaison with colleagues and the regional management teams to ensure jobs are appropriately prioritised, co-ordinated and completed with minimal disruption to the retail operation.
  • Collation, management and auditing of various statutory / compliance duties and records e.g.F-Gas audits, LOLER, EAWR (incl. HV), fire alarm testing etc.
  • Contractor selection and day to day oversight of contractor activities including periodic reviews of contractor performance.
  • Upkeep of maintenance logs, servicing schedules etc. to comply with relevant H & S legislation and in house policies.
  • Responsible for controlling bought in costs, placement of purchase orders and consolidation of invoices.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to Directors as required.
  • Day to day management of the safe system of work including assessment of contractors H & S documentation.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
  • Solid foundation in English & Maths, with relevant qualifications in a technical, property, or FM discipline up to HNC/HND level.
  • IWFM Qualifications (Level 5 or higher) or similar
  • Proficient in MS packages & IT systems.
  • Proven experience in building maintenance, contractor negotiation, and compliance knowledge.
  • Skilled in problem-solving, decision-making, and hands-on management of PPM systems.
  • Day to day management and prioritisation of reactive and planned works
  • Working in accordance with Safe Systems of Work including Permit To Work procedures & a good working knowledge of Health & Safety practices.
  • Experience in contractor/line management and knowledge of security systems.
  • Possess a full driving licence.
  • Minimum 2 years in a similar role and membership of a professional body.
