Job Description

Property Services KeyworkerAn exciting position has become available for a full time Property Services Keyworker to join a friendly team based in Hull. The ideal candidate will have a good knowledge of the town and its communities.The successful candidate will earn a salary of £18,375 progressing to £19,346 after 12 months on satisfactory completion of a 9-month probationary period assessment. A further increase after a further 1 year of service to £20,428.Offer of employment is subject to a satisfactory criminal record check and references.Role Requirements

  • Experience of providing support to asylum seekers or other vulnerable people in a housing environment.
  • Experience of working with people from BME Communities
  • Understanding of immigration regulations and the asylum-seeking process (Desirable).
  • Aware of Child Protection legislation in the UK
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety in accommodation
  • No criminal records
  • Experience of working with interpreters
  • Speaking other language than English (Desirable)
  • Handy person (Desirable)
  • Full British Clean Driving License
  • Satisfy Immigration and rights to work in the UK.
  • Role Responsibilities
  • Assist asylum seekers (known as SU) to take up accommodation assigned under the terms of the contract with UKBA.
  • Explain to SU the house rules and how to use the equipment provided
  • Assist SU to register with Health services in their area and access health issues that require emergency treatment. If necessary, make arrangements with health services for urgent attention.
  • Provide SU with information pack about local services, communities and worship places.
  • Provide details of local education providers including English classes.
  • Distribute initial vouchers assigned for the household.
  • Support clients to understand their rights and responsibilities under their accommodation arrangements.
  • Raise awareness of SU on costs in consumption of gas & electricity and water.
  • Agree visiting calendar
  • Organise cleaning Rota if accommodation is shared by more than one household.
  • Enable and support SU to deal with conflict and disputes with neighbours.
  • Carry out regular visits (at least once a week) to assess people are still living in the accommodation and to check conditions of the premises
  • Report maintenance requirements to central office
  • Ensure visits and events are properly recorded (and signed where necessary) and copied to relevant officers in the organisation.
  • Keep all prescribed records in order so that the value of the client’s support service can be audited and comply with confidentiality policy.
  • Build links with external organisations providing services to asylum seekers and refugees to maintain constructive working relations so that clients’ needs are met.
  • Serve SU with NTQ when the accommodation arrangements come to an end. Whenever possible to assist the SU to find alternative accommodation.
  • To clear and clean the premises and prepare it for the arrival of a new SU
  • Close cases accordingly with service delivery procedures and contractual obligations.
  • Carry out house inspections
  • Carry out minor repairs and change of locks when necessary
  • Attend and participate in training sessions or activities as required.
  • Participate in team meetings and supervision as required.
  • Promote the contribution asylum seekers and refugees make to society
  • Perform other such duties as may be required to further the aims of Target Housing and TH Refugee services in particular.
