Job Description

Position: Payroll AdministratorLocation: Melton, (near Hull) HU14 3HJHours: Monday – Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm (office based)Salary: £24,000 - £28,000 (dependent upon experience)Benefits: 30 days annual leave (plus option to purchase additional days), pension, 24/7 access to our employee assistance programme plusonline access to a GP for you and your family (partner and children up to aged 21), employee discountacross Heron Foods and B&M, money off a range of products and services via BenefitHub.About Us:Heron Foods, part of the dynamic B&M Group, has been a trusted household name since 1979. More than just a company, we are a community devoted to delivering the best for less.The role:As a Payroll Administrator, you will work closely with all areas within the business including retail, warehouse and transport to ensure that a first-class service is consistently provided. Working within our highly motivated and productive payroll team,you will ensure the production of accurate work and will also be responsible for the following:

  • Processing weekly payroll for warehouse and shops, including handling new starters, leavers, P45s, and HMRC starter checklists.
  • Performing SSP, SMP, SAP and SPP calculations.
  • Analysing payroll data using complex spreadsheets and ensure accurate processing of weekly payroll.
  • Utilising the Flexipay reporting system to produce timely reports for stores, Area Managers, and Warehouse managers.
  • Responding to payroll queries from employees and supporting Store Managers / Warehouse with any clocking system issues or queries.
  • Participating in regular team meetings, contributing recommendations for process improvements.
  • Documenting and updating Work Instructions for all tasks and managing the collation of monthly payments for court orders.
  • Staying updated with changes in payroll legislation.

  • Proven experience in managing high-turnover weekly payroll.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • An active team player with a flexible approach to work, willing to engage fully in all aspects of the role.
