We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join the Hull West Community Mental Health Team ( CMHT) based at the Waterloo Centre. The team use a recovery focused pathway model to support working age adults with mental health issues living in the West and Central Hull areas. The aim is to enable service users to build self-reliance, through setting agreed goals to manage their mental and physical health, living skills, responsibilities, and to develop and sustain good relationships and social networks.Occupational Therapy is a well-established and valued profession within the multi-disciplinary team, which also comprises community psychiatric nurses, social workers, care officers, technical instructors, healthcare support workers, clinical psychologists and psychiatrists. The successful OT candidate will be expected to assess, and then deliver, evidence-based occupational therapy interventions, to facilitate recovery, and optimise independent functioning in self-care, productivity and leisure activities, from an occupational perspective. These interventions can take place in home environments, community settings and in-patient units, with some flexibility of working required to meet service user needs. However at this time, and in the near future, we will understandably be guided by Government policies and adaptations to working arrangements locally, to ensure safe practise. All occupational therapists have access to supervision, continuous professional development (CPD) networks, and newly qualified OT’s are invited to participate in a monthly Band 5 OT Development Group. The Trust has a very good Preceptorship programme for all professionals, which dovetails well with more specific OT preceptorship requirements. Individual, team and profession-specific training is supported, together with leadership development programmes, and the Service is committed to undergraduate student education, with occupational therapists encouraged after a reasonable period, to undertake fieldwork education and to take students on placements in the workplace. There are lots of opportunities for occupational therapists in Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust, so please give us a call to discuss how this post could be the stepping stone to a valued career in the OT profession and the NHS.Why work for usHumber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust provides a broad range of community and inpatient mental health services, community services (including therapies), learning disability services, healthy lifestyle support and addiction services to approximately 600,000 people.
