We are recruiting a number of Network Civils Operatives to join a new team and perform a range of tasks associated to network and build maintenance, from identification of services using dig prints and scanning equipment (cat and Genny) to installation of cabinets, duct network, Fibre cable, Blown fibre tubes, excavation, backfill, hot and cold-lay reinstatement, frame and cover renewal, rod and roping, PIA and traffic management set-up.You will work across a range of settings from public land to private. Dependent on the work pack this may involve, but is not limited to, working in the Highways, footways, service strips gardens or across fields in a range of different surface types. The Key areas of work will be maintaining the highest Health & Safety standards, quality of work, Innovation and problem solving with a right first-time mentality.What will I be doing• Perform associated network build/ maintenance tasks using specialist tools and machinery• Excavate in the Highways / footpaths complying with NRSWA and HSG47• Comply with SROH (Specification for Reinstatement of Openings in Highways)• Provide solutions to on-site issues that may arise during construction and maintenance of networks• Work safely protecting yourself and the public highways• Comply with all IBMS requirements as detailed in KCOM’s policies, ISO certifications and procedures• Build and maintain best in class network to the most cost-effective methods• Meet agreed standards for safety, quality and productivityWhat do I need to do this jobYou will have experience of civils build work such excavation and reinstatement across varied surfaces using specialist machinery such as 360 excavators, cutting, breaking and compaction equipment, this could be in telecoms or for other utilities. You will need to be physically fit and prepared to work outside in all conditions.You will have the ability to interpret plans and update information digitally using ICT equipment.You will have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, with strong communication and customer service skills. You will be confident to suggest new ways in which to achieve results and look to innovate at every opportunity.The willingness to learn and aptitude to deliver to the highest standard of safety and quality and deliver a great end product.We are looking for individuals who• Can work to deadlines and deliver work within agreed timescales• Complete and pass all internal and external training required including specialist tickets and qualifications relevant to the role• Pass regular competency based assessments relevant to the role• Have a full valid UK driving licence C1, C1+E,C+E (HGV desirable but not essential)
