Job Description

Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer

  1. Location - Batley WF17
  2. £14-£16 per hour, £32k-£38k per annum, dependent on experience
  3. 0630 - 1600, Monday to Friday, overtime available with additional overtime rate

Main Responsibilities
  1. Work in a safe and controlled manner, following all relevant risk assessments and health & safety regulations
  2. Develop an understanding of the plant and equipment on site
  3. Liaise and communicate with site staff, supervisors, and managers
  4. Fault finding and planned repairs.
  5. Complete predictive, preventative maintenance and reactive work to minimise downtime
  6. Support with organising and facilitating plant services
  7. Coordinate sub-contractors and plant suppliers on site
  8. Supervise subcontractors whilst on site, ensuring compliance with health & safety
  9. Complete any necessary facility maintenance
  10. Assist production in identifying any specialist tools/equipment required ensuring compliance with current legislation (e.g. jigs, fixtures, etc)
  11. Auditing of machine safety checks, operator/supervisor equipment checks and associated record keeping
  12. Make recommendations for continuous improvement and take a lead role in continuous improvement projects and/or minor installation projects
  13. Maintain housekeeping in appropriate work areas and any maintenance/workshop areas
  14. Keep up to date on any new plant, equipment introduced into the site
  15. Keep up to date with changes in H&S legislation
Knowledge & Qualifications
  1. You will have practical experience of working in a Recycling, Waste or Industrial/Manufacturing environment
  2. Ideally a minimum qualification of a City and Guilds Engineering Level 3 or ONC
  3. Good working knowledge of Health & Safety
  4. Experience of machine servicing and breakdowns working with pneumatics and hydraulics
  5. Experience of shredder, conveyor maintenance, motor controllers/inverters
  6. Electrical competency would be a distinct advantage
  7. Previous experience working on improvement projects
  8. Have the ability to work independently whilst also being part of a team
  9. You will be a problem solver with excellent fault-finding skills
  10. The ability to juggle urgent priorities, supporting production demands
  11. An assertive, optimistic, resilient individual who thrives under pressure
  12. Knowledge of continuous improvement and project work
  13. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable collaborating with others
