Job Description

Mechanical Project Engineer - Hull - Permanent - Competitive Salary + Excellent benefits package - ChemicalOur client is looking to recruit a Mechanical Project Engineer to join their team working at Top Tier COMAH Chemical Plants in Hull.You will be working on modifications and upgrade projects on the site ranging in size. Within the projects you will be managing Full Project Life cycle which includes FEED, detailed design, commissioning, and completion.Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver projects (capital, revenue, improvement & change management,) consistent project management procedures. Ensuring changes are raised and approved Management of Change process. When required, support client managed projects.
  • Prepare technical equipment specifications and datasheets for both rotating and static equipment, including but not limited to pumps, fans, pressure vessels, columns, heat exchangers, tanks, filters etc.
  • Undertake formal technical bid evaluations, support supplier clarification meetings and present findings to both the client and senior management.
  • Manage supplier post order delivery, chairing progress meetings, coordinating factory acceptance testing and inspection visits.
  • Site visits to review existing equipment and proposed modifications. Rigorously review post order vendor documentation and take a lead in resolving technical issues across multiple disciplines and driving the technical solutions to completion.
  • Execute assigned work in accordance with the applicable project procedures, standards, and regulations. Management of workload and budgets across designated work scopes to ensure successful delivery.
  • Understand, review and comment on process design data to support equipment specification and selection.
  • Manage project documentation effectively, ensuring all disciplines receive the quality information at the right time.
  • Ensure technical documentation and deliverables (procedures, drawings, instructions, guidance, systems,) are accurately and consistently sourced, stored, updated, and communicated.
  • Assist in providing functional design specifications on agreed existing and new assets.
  • Be active in safety schemes providing support, reporting, and implementing actions. To include reporting, investigations, audits, housekeeping and supervision to safe working systems standards and the support of technical safety reviews e.g. HAZOP, LOPA,RBI, functional Safety compliance etc.
  • Represent mechanical interests at cross site functional group meetings and support improvement processes in line with competence and business need.
  • Portray the role of Mechanical Project Engineer in a positive, professional manner. Remain up to date with engineering best practice, industry trends and legislation maintaining and developing competence.

  • Actively support the plant safety schemes such as Near Hits or Incident reports, providing support where required and actively implementing any recommendations arising from any such report.
Requirements for the role
  • Degree Qualified or Equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience working on large scale project design experience (Concept, FEED, detailed design, construct, pre commissioning, commissioning, and completions.)
  • Experience working on rotating and static equipment on a Highly Hazardous or COMAH Plant.
  • Working knowledge of ISO55001 (Asset Management) & ISO9001 (Quality Management) (Desirable).
