Job Description

Mechanical Engineer - HydraulicsHullFull-time, temporary to permanent£33k-£35k basic, up to £50k with overtimeMy new client is looking for a mechanical engineer to join their close-knit, family-run engineering firm, which encourages team cohesion, cooperation and safe working practices, and only looking for people who will fit this environment.Serving a wide range of industries including agriculture, port transport, food industry and many more, they specialise in the design, manufacturing, modification, and maintenance of heavy industrial equipment, serving clients in the UK and around the world.Responsibilities:

  • Safely working with hydraulic equipment.
  • Disassembling and assembling hydraulic cylinders, motors, pump assemblies, and valves.
  • Maintaining the hydraulic workshop and mobile van.
  • Overseeing workshop and mobile van supplies, oils, and consumables.
  • Managing the opening and closing procedures for the hydraulic shop.
  • Assembling of hydraulic hoses, both onsite and in the workshop.
Additionally duties:
  • Collaborate effectively with the machine shop team on repairing and constructing hydraulic equipment.
  • Develop your own work strategies, prioritising safety, job completion times, and the quality of the final product.
  • Manage your workload in coordination with the machine shop.
  • Maintain accurate timesheets using your own tablet.
  • Adhere to all established rules, procedures, and policies.
Person specification:
  • Proficiency in operating hydraulic test beds, hose swagers, and general workshop machinery.
  • Competency in operating forklifts and heavy handling equipment.
  • Understanding of engineering principles.
  • The ability to diagnose hydraulic faults and perform necessary repairs.
  • Capability to work offsite with minimal equipment, utilising your innovative approaches within the hydraulic van.
  • Demonstrable commitment to engineering career and past employers
Desirable qualifications and skills encompass:
  • Relevant mechanical engineering qualifications (e.g. NVQ3)
  • Welding expertise in hydraulic cylinder components
  • Transferable skills across various engineering departments
What we offer:
  • Hourly pay ranging from £15.50 (Probation 2 weeks minimum) to £16.50
  • 40-hour workweeks with opportunities for overtime
  • Generous overtime rates up to 3x pay
  • Monday to Friday schedule
  • Work hours from 08:00 to 16:30
