Job Description

Laboratory Analyst required for a 9-month contract role with a leading multinational client based in Hull.Responsibilities

  • 75% - NPD Project Delivery – Supports the delivery of designated projects by providing scientific and analytical input including:
  • Development and introduction of new test methods.
  • Testing of prototype samples including for product stability, product safety and transit.
  • Testing of competitor products to support the effective commercialisation of product portfolio.
  • Sourcing of external contract analysis providers
  • Compilation of reports as appropriate and recommendation of actions to the project team.
  • 10% - Quality Assurance - Contribute to the improvement of local systems and ways of working to ensure that the high quality of the work performed by the section is maintained.
  • 5% - Technical Coaching - Provide coaching and training to ensure that learning is passed on to other members of the team.
  • 5% - Health and Safety - To apply high standards of occupational Health & Safety in the workplace to comply with company policy and procedures.
  • 5% - Regulatory Compliance - To perform all activities in compliance with relevant GMP and Quality System standards and specifically with FDA Quality System Regulation and ISO 13485.
    • Requirements
  • Scientific qualification and experience: e.g. Degree / BTEC / ONC (with Chemistry ) and/or has relevant experience in a Quality Assurance / Analytical support role (2 years min).
  • Knowledge/experience of basic microbiology techniques e.g. culturing and serial dilutions.
  • Evidence of the ability to perform a range of analytical techniques e.g HPLC and GC chromatography and IR, UV, Mass Spectroscopy and material testing.
  • Ability to clearly convey technical information and ideas to a variety of individuals and groups with different levels of understanding.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment with minimal supervision.
  • Further knowledge of antimicrobial testing methodologies, standards and best practice (desirable but not essential).
  • Experience of working within quality management systems e.g. ISO 9001, UKAS 17025, ISO 13485 etc. (desirable but not essential).
