The Global Category Manager is a key role in the management of £30m spend in a high risk, business critical supply chain. Working with 15 key supplier partnerships the Global Category Manager will take the commercial lead on initiatives to address ProcurementRisks; Supply Bottlenecks, Inflation in Costs, Supply Continuity, Supply Resilience, Political trading and compliance as well as other risks noted from owning the portfolio. This is a position that requires a high degree of business culture understanding, proven commercial management with contractual lifecycles that deliver high performance of supply with a proven need of contract issue and supply chain resolution to meets theneeds of the end customers. Experience working with extensive supply chains that have multiple tiers of supply, commercial relationships and regulation with governance and compliance controls will be needed to fulfil the demand placed on the delivery of service and products for the market.If youre driven by complex procurement relationships and commercial brokerage and thrive working in a professional multinational or large matrix organisations with a degree of political agendas that need you to utilise charisma and intelligence to influenceand manage key milestones in delivery this is the perfect role for you! Role Purpose:* To be the commercial lead for critical supplier relationships of 15 partners from a global supply chain* Be the commercial specialist responsible for all aspects of category strategy, planning, sourcing, risk mitigation, capacity protection/planning and contract agreements* Be the procurement and supply chain specialist able to proactively drive best practice, supply chain relationships and contract formulation* Ensure an open, transparent and collaborative approach to engaging all stakeholders, at all levels both internally and externally to identifying business improvement, product development, and supplier resilience* Responsible for developing & maintaining category strategies and future product developments including market awareness and proactive sub-contract manufacture* Responsible for managing supplier relationships to exceed business requirementsKey areas of experience needed: * Extensive experience of working in a procurement environment* Ability to review complex commercial relationships with multiple suppliers and outcomes to meet manufacturing and end customer demand* Have the ability to identify opportunities for VA/VE* Experience of leading and participating in collaborative tasks and projects* Experience of an integrated systems* Ability to incorporate contractual risk management that also addresses legalisation, governance and compliance* Establishing governance and compliance monitoring systems* Awareness of contract management best practice / strategies* Awareness of supplier relationship best practice / strategiesKey Experience, Background and Qualifications:* Experience of owning procurement strategy * Business partnering experience, identifying cost saving opportunities, VA/VE initiatives and supplier assurance* Ability to develop reports for stakeholders on supplier spend and contracts management* Degree/Level 6 equivalent qualification or higher* Experience ensuring all metrics of the supply (e.g. budget, people costs/ headcount and operational targets) are met* Have tangible proactive management of product cost, ensuring sourcing strategies & supplier performance deliver total cost in line with business plan* Track record of leading a strategic procurement & supplier performance management in a modern manufacturing environment* Experience of supplier quality management APQP/PPAP* Experience of ERP systems, Sales & Operations planning through the supply chain* Experience in negotiating complex issues and create innovative solutions which deliver value for the businessSalary:* £65,000 - £70,000* Hybrid working Pension, Holiday + benefitsGlobal Category Manager (Sub-Contact Manufacturing)Hull, East Riding, Humberside.Great location for 1-2 days in the office to commute from Leeds, Huddersfield, York, Sheffield, Doncaster, Bradford, Middlesbrough.
