Job Description

Role: Senior Engineer/Engineering Manager - PermanentCompany: Slicker RecyclingLocation: Hull (travelling to Stourport-on-Severn and Ipswich as required)Salary: £40,000 to £45,000 per annum (depending on experience)Who are weSlicker Recycling is the UKs trusted environmental and waste management partner. From one-off waste oil collections to fully integrated management solutions, we work in partnership with our customers to find the best Slicker solution.Our vast network of vehicles and depots ensure that wherever you are in the UK, we can provide you with an efficient and reliable service. We offer a wide range of services for our customers to meet their varying needs. On average, we serve over 30,000 customersevery year from a spectrum of industry sectors. To support this, we operate an extensive range of vehicles including oil collection, box vans and bulk tankers.The Opportunity: As Senior Engineer/Engineering Manager, youll support the engineering needs across the UK operations. The role is varied but broadly covers three categories, namely;-

  • Providing support and technical advice to operations colleagues on an ad-hoc basis
  • Manage maintenance programs and asset integrity, to support ongoing legal compliance of the business site assets
  • Deliver improvement projects (existing assets) and capital projects (new plant/technologies) within budgetary and time-line constraints
While the role will be based out of one of the major Slicker Recycling sites (Stourport. Hull or Ipswich), there is an expectation that the successful candidate will travel to the various Slicker Recycling sites on a periodic basis, as required by the business.Main responsibilities:
  • Being a point of contact (during normal office hours) for operational colleagues, who require technical / engineering assistance and advice
  • Oversee and manage plant asset integrity and maintenance programs across the business, to ensure ongoing engineering compliance
  • Maintain and update engineering records and documents, for internal reference and to support regulatory needs
  • Manage projects through their full life cycle, from initial budgeting, scoping, bid management and eventual delivery of the project using in-house and external resources

The Person:We are looking for a strong minded individual with proven knowledge of engineering. Youll have a flexible and adaptable approach with ability to work in a team and possess and be able to draw on proven people management/leadership skills.   • History of working in an operational / manufacturing environment
  • Experience of engineering assessment techniques such as DSEAR, HAZOP, AtEx, etc
  • Experience in organising inspections by third parties and maintaining regulatory inspection records such as;- LOLER, PSSR, Compex, boiler inspections, etc
  • Experience of tank inspections to an EEMUA159 or a similar standard is Ideal, but not essential
  • Experience with the set-up, development, roll out and management of CMMS software
  • Experience of scoping, managing and commissioning projects, from small modifications up to projects of £1m+ in size
  • Management of in-house colleagues and external contractors to deliver project objectives
  • Full UK drivers licence, with access to a vehicle
Education/Qualifications:
  • The ideal candidate would an engineering degree (such as mechanical or process), however other engineering qualifications (e.g. City and Guilds) with appropriate experience will be considered
  • Membership or Associate Membership to a professional engineering institution is preferred, but not essential
