Job Description

This advert is for a Community Payback Placement Coordinator within The Humberside, Lincolnshire and North Yorkshire Community Rehabilitation Company (HLNY CRC).Though based from the Hull Office, Norwich House, the majority of your time will be spent in the Grimsby and Scunthorpe area. This post entails a 4 day working week, Fri-Mon, working a 9.25 hour day.The Courts sentence offenders to do unpaid work in the community as an alternative to a custodial sentence. In our work as a probation provider, we will identify suitable community payback placements for offenders as well as supervising them whilst they undertake it. Community Payback placements can take many forms including; maintaining the grounds of parks, churches, local sports clubs, providing luncheon clubs for the elderly, painting village halls, repairing the edging of public footpaths, working for charities in shops and local communities.Key ResponsibilitiesThe primary function of the role is to source suitable placements for offenders to carry out their unpaid work hours and project manage the placements from start to completion. Key responsibilities include:

  • Liaising with local beneficiaries and external organisations for example church wardens, leaders of community groups and parish councils, to identify placements that will enhance the skills of offenders
  • Scoping the placement to agree the work to be undertaken, identifying what materials will be required and the timescales for completion
  • Conducting a full risk assessment of the placement prior to commencement and then undertake quality assurance reviews during the placement to ensure the work is being carried out to a satisfactory standard
  • Matching offenders to placements taking into account diverse needs as well as considering their risk of harm to the public during the completion of their unpaid work
  • Liaising with internal teams to ensure completion of the unpaid work within the timescales as prescribed by the courts
  • Building our organisational reputation within communities by the quality of the finished work
  • Identifying educational, training and employment opportunities for offenders with local beneficiaries
  • Deputising for on-site supervisors with the transporting and supervising groups of up to 8 offenders
  • Managing queries and complaints from offenders either face to face or by telephone
  • Skills and ExperienceTo be successful, you will need to be able to demonstrate:
  • An ability to develop and build first class relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Strong organisational, co-ordination and communication skills
  • Good customer service skills
  • High level of self-motivation with the ability to motivate others
  • An understanding of health and safety in the work place and experience of completing risk assessments
  • IT literate as you will be required to input onto spreadsheets, complete reports, update our databases and operational systems
  • Have held a current, clean driving licence for a minimum of 2 years and be willing to undertake a minibus driving assessment
