Job Description

Reed Further Education are working with a college in Humberside who are looking for a Careers Advisor on a temporary basis with a view of a permanent contract down the line.Salary: £16 - £17 Per Hour including Holiday Pay37 hours per week, 52 weeks per yearAs a Careers Advisor, you will support the implementation of the Colleges careers plan, ensuring that all quality benchmarks are met. You will work with pupils and students throughout the College, providing them with impartial careers information, learningopportunities, and advice to help them develop and implement essential career management skills. The post holder will play a key role in upholding and modelling the Colleges values.The College provides high-quality education & training for school leavers & adults, offering a wide range of vocational study programmes, Apprenticeships & degrees. As one of the largest vocational institutes of its kind in the region, we have one focus- to create careers, not courses.   • Deliver impartial careers information, advice, and guidance to young people, meeting professional standards, and offering insights into various learning opportunities within the College learning pathway to facilitate their progression into further learningand/or work, including Higher Education.
  • Track the ongoing destinations of the College students to assess the success of career guidance provided.
  • Support the effective planning, implementation, delivery, and quality assurance of the careers program for the College, ensuring continuous improvement in line with best practices and desired impacts for young people.
  • Maintain effective record-keeping practices to a high standard in accordance with quality assurance guidelines.
  • Collaborate with external partners, such as employers, learning providers, and career guidance services, to ensure the effective implementation of the careers plan.
  • Enable students to develop and implement career management skills through various methods, including individual guidance, group work, and online support.
  • Assist students in creating career action plans that meet agreed quality standards. •
  • Engage in ongoing training and development activities to stay updated with learning opportunities and industry trends.
  • Refer students to suitable work and training opportunities as appropriate to their career goals.
  • Provide information and advice to parents/carers of students, enabling them to support their career planning.

  • Academic ambition for all students, along with a genuine passion and belief in the potential of every student.
  • Strong communication skills with staff, pupils/students, parents, and external agencies, maintaining a friendly and professional demeanour.
  • A strong academic track record up to degree level and above.
  • Completion of the Qualification in Careers Guidance is desirable.
  • Desirable experience in working with children with social, emotional, and behavioural needs and knowledge of working with external agencies and voluntary groups.
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently
