Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Cancer and Clinical SupportMicrobiology ServicesHull Royal InfirmaryBand 4 Associate PractitionerFull time 37.5 hours/week 3 postsA vacancies have arisen within the microbiology and virology laboratories for enthusiastic and dedicated Associate Practitioner to join the team and play an important role in the day to day running of the laboratory. The successful candidates will rotate through both departments.The successful applicant will carry out basic microbiology and virology tasks, working directly with the scientific laboratory staff. The main duties include assisting in the processing of samples, detection of MRSA, basic molecular testing, enzyme immunoassay, QC of equipment, stock control and ordering, identification and susceptibility testing and other general duties which may involve some lifting and handling. Laboratory experience is essential, as are some keyboard skills. The successful candidate should possess a good secondary education to AS level (or equivalent), NVQ3 or a foundation degree. Full training will be given.The posts are full time (37½ hours per week) with the laboratory staffed 7 days a week, 07:00 – 21:00 and bank holidays are also worked on a rostered basis..The department is well equipped and situated on the Hull Royal Infirmary site.Hull is a cosmopolitan and upcoming, yet affordable city.
