Transport Manager12 Month Fixed termEllesmere Port£29,000 - £36,000Reporting directly to the operations manager this is a pivotal role in the organisation, where the expectation is to achieve world class safety and service standards through positive and proactive engagement with the driver workforce. As nominated Transport Manager on the appropriate Operators Licence, positively influence the Companys OCRS scores/Earned Recognition status, ensuring that all drivers and vehicles within the job holders sphere of responsibility remain compliant withall regulatory requirements and internal policies/procedures. Demonstrate the highest standards of integrity, leadership and fairness at all times whilst always ensuring the Company Values are upheld. Create opportunities for formal and informal interaction with the driver workforce & union stewards, through coincidental presence at the operating locations in order to maximise face-to-face communication in order to develop strong working relationshipsand reduce voluntary attrition. Ensure that all requests and queries are responded to in a timely and appropriate manner. Give full consideration to all criteria contained in the Company Disciplinary/Absence Framework. Where necessary, undertake formal disciplinary, grievance and absence management proceedings in line with Company Policy. Manage, support and guide direct staff reports (where applicable), whilst maintaining overall responsibility for the completion of all tasks delegated to him or her. Ensure that all colleagues in your line are paid accurately and on time. Ensure that new equipment, processes and technologies are implemented effectively and adopted unreservedly at your location(s) Contribute, and subsequently ensure adherence, to all aspects of the contract Customer Service plan. Ensure that the correct number of drivers are employed either directly or through an agency, as advised by the Head of Resource or a Contract Manager.Essential: The successful individual will - Hold a full UK driving license. Minimum of 5 years proven experience in a management role. Track record of demonstrating and delivering Continuous improvement. Be proficient in IT, particularly Microsoft Office - Outlook and Excel Experience of using resource management software Have strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to build effective working relationships. Have excellent people management skills. Have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Have a good use of intuition and problem solving skills for productive outcomes. Have the proven ability to maintain high standards of decision making in a fast-paced changeable environment. Have an understanding of Drivers Hours Regulations. Have experience working in the transport industry.Desirable: The successful individual will: Be educated to degree standard (or equivalent) all disciplines considered. Be CPC qualified, or hold other transport industry qualifications. Be emergency response trained. Have experience working in the transport industry.
