Job Description

Special Education Teaching AssistantEngage Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teaching Assistant to join our team. As a Special Education Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will play a crucial role in supporting students with diverse learning needs, ensuringthey receive the necessary assistance to thrive academically and socially.Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Individualised Education Plans (IEPs): Collaborate with special education teachers and other staff to implement and monitor IEPs for students with special needs.
  • Provide One-on-One Support: Work closely with students to provide individualised support, including academic tutoring and behaviour management.
  • Assist in Classroom Activities: Assist teachers in planning and conducting lessons, adapting materials, and maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Data Tracking: Collect and maintain data on student progress, behaviour, and IEP goals, sharing this information with the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to supporting students with special needs.
  • Behavioural Support: Implement behaviour intervention strategies and support students in developing appropriate social skills.
  • Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of all students, particularly those with physical or behavioural challenges.
  • Communication: Maintain open and regular communication with parents/guardians to update them on their childs progress and address any concerns.
Desirable qualities:
  • Previous experience working with students or with special needs is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of IEPs and special education laws and regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic classroom environment.
  • Basic computer skills for data tracking and communication purposes.
  • Valid background check and any required certifications or clearances.
