Job Description

We are working exclusively with a world-leading engineering company based in West Yorkshire to appoint a Senior Development Engineer to join their team.This is a fantastic opportunity to join an expanding team of highly-skilled professionals.The role of Senior Development Engineer requires someone who is happy to work both in the UK, but also has the flare to want to work internationally. This opportunity does need an individual who can commit to working abroad one week per month to work onan astounding project.Roles & Responsibilities

  • This role is within the Defence Engineering Team, working under the Lead Development Engineer primarily on land vehicle transmission test capability development and hardware validation activities for the project.
  • The scope of the tasks will include technical assistance to the build and commissioning of test rig and test hardware, test and development of new transmissions and input into supporting systems and equipment such as test and evaluation planning, instrumentation,and the generation of test plans and reports as necessary.
  • Engineering geared transmission test systems and components.
  • Strong test engineering skills, competence in gear and test equipment build, including other drive system elements such as structures, shafting, couplings, instrumentation and lubrication/cooling systems, or similar experience and capabilities from a relevantrotating machinery background.
  • Carry out/support test campaigns for assigned projects alongside operational staff and engineering group.
  • Being able to provide engineering support as directed from Chief Engineer or Project Director.
Skills
  • At least 5 years in a relevant engineering development role.
  • Understanding of product test and validation methods.
  • Working knowledge of automotive systems and principals.
  • Experience in an engineering development role/environment involving complex rotating machinery.
  • Strong understanding of gearbox technology; operating behaviour, associated components and systems, tradeoffs, materials, test regime design and execution.
  • Knowledge of rig drive, control and instrumentation systems.
