Job Description

This Specialist Engineering organisation are looking for a Senior Buyer to come into their team. Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain you will plan direct and coordinate the activities of the Purchasing function.Role purpose:

  • To ensure that the team procure in an effective and timely manner, whilst obtaining service and quality to best price and value, all in accordance with business and operating procedures.
  • The role will require the development of strategic relationships with key partners/suppliers and contributions to the ongoing of development of the strategies and policies.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for procurement of raw materials, castings, forgings, bar and Fabrications.
  • Control the purchasing order through purchasing team from enquiry to invoice on products.
  • Introduce strategies to effectively manage current and future supply chains, including supplier business reviews, supplier visit/audit schedules, contracts, with key suppliers.
  • Monitor changes in supply market conditions that could have a commercial affect on the business and report them accordingly.
  • Identify and Coordinate Export Licences and travel permits in a timely manner.
  • Support business continuous improvement activities and implementing planned actions in a timely manner.
  • Strong negotiation skills to ensure cost down initiatives are met.
  • Ensure compliance with all company procedures (quality, health and safety, environmental, legal)
Requirements
  • Strategic purchasing experience at a senior level in a manufacturing environment essential.
  • Engineering background and ability to read engineering drawings preferred, Experience in the procurement of raw materials, castings, forgings, bar and Fabrications advantageous.
