Job Description

Location:HuddersfieldSalary:Up to £45,000 per annumBenefits:hybrid working (office and home-based split), healthcare cash plan, birthday off after a year of service, staff discount schemeAt Buy It Direct, were expanding our ElectriQ brand with exciting new product lines. To support the growth of our original equipment manufacturer (OEM) ranges across commercial kitchens, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, home energy, and home appliances,were seeking a Quality Control Manager. This role involves ensuring that OEM Electrical and Gas appliances meet our high-quality standards and comply with relevant regulations. Youll manage technical documentation, stay updated on compliance changes, coordinatewith international factories, assist with product specifications, and provide vital support across various business functions.Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Approve shipments of OEM Electrical and Gas appliances, ensuring both QA and compliance standards are met.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical files demonstrating compliance with CE and UKCA requirements.
  • Organise a structured database outlining regulations and standards for each product category.
  • Develop, update, and review product manuals to ensure legal compliance and provide essential information to users and installers.
  • Ensure product artwork aligns with brand guidelines and legal requirements.
  • Review test reports to confirm products meet UKCA and CE standards.
  • Continuously monitor changes in UK and EU compliance affecting our products.
  • Coordinate with factories worldwide, notably in China.
  • Collaborate with buyers on product specifications, offering insights and opinions on new line proposals.
  • Generate technical reports for senior management and factories.
  • Provide support and information to various business areas regarding approved products.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Applicants must have prior experience in manufacturing, product development, or international sourcing, focusing on the UK market ideally with expertise in kitchen appliances or commercial electrical products.
  • A strong communicator able to build great working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Excellent Excel skills able to assess data to understand trends and analyse accordingly.
  • Strong team player with great communication skills, continuously seeking ways to improve work processes for effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Proactive, organised, and adept at managing high-pressure workloads independently.
  • Confident in sharing findings and proposals with third parties and senior management, capable of making commercially aware decisions.
  • Experience in a continuous improvement environment and familiarity with UKCA and CE regulations, including the Machinery Directive, Low Voltage Directive, Gas Appliance Regulations, ROHS, Reach, and eco-design.
  • Commercial awareness is paramount as well as enthusiasm.
  • Background in appliance compliance, particularly with international factories, notably in China.
  • Desirable qualifications include a degree in Manufacturing / Electrical / Engineering, experience with ISO 9001:2015 processes, understanding of compliance requirements for Electrical Appliances, and experience in electrical appliance repair or manufacturing.
